Robin Skinner aka Cavetown is an English YouTuber who has gained popularity on social media by sharing his ukulele covers of popular songs and original music content. Hailing from a musical background, Skinner has been blessed with incredible skills when it comes to playing musical instruments. Besides being a proficient ukulele player, he is also a great guitarist with a unique style of playing the instrument.
He has released a number of original songs, including ‘This is Home,’ which has earned over 2.4 million views on YouTube till date. Apart from his original content, Skinner’s covers are also extremely popular on the social media platform. The young musician dreams of making it big in the musical world and believes that being active on YouTube is a good way of attracting a wider audience. Besides YouTube, he has a presence on Twitter as well. He likes vlogging too and often shares his life stories with his fans and admirers. EARLY LIFE
Skinner was born in Oxford on 15 December 1998 and relocated to Cambridge at the age of eight. His interest in music was inspired by his father, David Skinner, a professional flautist and director of music at Cambridge University, who taught him how to play the acoustic guitar at the age of eight. His mother is a professional Baroque flautist and music teacher.
He attended Parkside Community College and Hills Road Sixth Form College and received an NCS in 2015.
They were raised in Cambridge and went to Parkside Community College from 2010–2015 (5 years) and Hills Road Sixth Form College from 2015–2017 (2 years). Self-taught producer Cavetown began using the app GarageBand and was gifted the music production software Logic from his father as a Christmas gift.
